Our research is at the interface of quantitative genetics, population genetics, and development. Our lab members work on a variety of systems including drosophila, shellfish and plants. Our topics include genotype-environment interactions, the evolution & development of complex structures, plant genome assembly, and industry-based technological applications Zumberge Research and Innovation Fund, Ocean Sustainability Initiative On January 17th the Nuzhdin lab hosted an industry-level meeting between seafood industry members Red Chamber Co., Del Mar Seafoods and Holdfast Aquaculture with a focus on the future of the California Squid fisheries. Together, researchers and industry members discussed sustainable research initiatives focused on the physiology and phylogeography of California squid, Loliginidae.
